Searched round for new (to me) music, and tipped off by national public radio, found a couple to save inside the shoebox.

Kishi Bashi – It All Began With a Burst

I let out a “Huh?” at first because I didn’t catch that the Japanese subtitles were based on the phonetics of the actual English lyrics and that the English subtitles were then based on a literal translation of the Japanese. Oh, you’re such a kidder, Kishi, and a clever one.

Courtney Barnett

Something very pleasantly simple about the lyrics and repetitive melody. Like just letting your thoughts flow freely while strumming a guitar, but there’s something naturally poetic about the way you describe your mundane experiences. Natural or not, it makes me smile.
